China Authorization Letter to Chinese Distributor
Updated: Nov. 1, 2025
A Chinese Authorization Letter to a Chinese distributor is a formal legal document used to establish and confirm the legitimacy of distribution rights for a motion picture in the People’s Republic of China (PRC). It is typically required by SAPPRFT, China Film Group, and/or a local Chinese theatrical or streaming distributor, to confirm that all rights have been properly granted and verified through the full chain of title—from the original Producer to the Sales Agent, and then from the Sales Agent to the Chinese Distributor.
This letter ensures that the film is lawfully authorized for import, censorship review, distribution, and public screening in China.
This set of documents is for use by:
· Producers
· Executive Producers / Rights Holders
· International Sales Agents
· Chinese Distributors / Sub-Distributors
· China Film Group or SAPPRFT
· Legal Delivery Coordinators
It is typically prepared by the Sales Agent or Producer's attorney, then translated into Simplified Chinese and notarized for submission.
